Judging by the quick teaser and all the hints from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the upcoming “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is going to have yet another grouping of unique Spider-People who help the young Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen save the world. While we really don’t know what is expected to happen in the new “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” film (let alone the fact that we just found out that it’s actually two films), it would be silly for Sony to not at least entertain the idea of bringing the ‘Homecoming’ trilogy cast to the franchise, right? Not only are those folks dealing with their own multiversal story in ‘No Way Home,’ but they’re also massive stars and huge fan-favorites. Who wouldn’t want Tom Holland’s MCU Spidey to show up next to Miles Morales and the various other Spider-verse folks?
Of course, all of this could be a moot point if Sony already has secret plans for a live-action ‘Spider-Man’ crossover into the ‘Spider-Verse’ world. Maybe Tom Holland is doing his best to throw us off the scent? We shall find out.
Before that, we can all watch “Spider-Man: No Way Home” on December 17. Then, we’ll see “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” in theaters in October 2022.
