Got a Tip?

Michael B. Jordan Will Reportedly Make Directorial Debut With ‘Creed 3’

They often say that if you can’t find what you’re looking for, it may be right under your nose. When it comes to the director of “Creed 3” why not look among your main cast, more specifically, Michael B. Jordan? Well, it turns out that’s exactly what MGM did because Michael B. Jordan is reportedly set to make his directorial debut with “Creed 3.”

The news was buried in a report from Deadline dismissing earlier reports that MGM was looking at selling the distribution rights to “No Time to Die.” Deadline doesn’t add any further details other than Jordan being tapped to direct the “Creed” sequel, and there is no official announcement by MGM or Jordan (who doesn’t shy away from confirming reports publicly, as he did with the news of his “Static Shock” adaptation). That being said, this news does confirm an earlier report from last year, revealed by “Creed” producer Irwin Winkler (via Men’s Health magazine) about Jordan being offered the director’s chair.

“I promised Michael B. Jordan that he’d get his chance to direct ‘Creed III,’ Winkler wrote in the book “A Life in Movies: Stories From 50 Years in Hollywood,” adding: “Last year in a conversation with our Creed star Michael B. Jordan, I offered him the opportunity to not only star in, but also to direct [the film].” Winkler also made a similar offer to Sylvester Stallone following the success of the first “Rocky” in 1976.

We haven’t heard much about “Creed 3” since the second chapter in the saga came out in theaters in 2018. Last we heard, MGM had tapped screenwriter Zach Baylin to pen the script. At the moment it is unclear if Tessa Thompson or Stallone will reprise their roles.
