There are certain actors that you see in a trailer for a film and immediately think, “Okay, no matter what, I gotta see this!” People like Lakeith Stanfield, Regina King, and Zazie Beetz are just a few of those types of names. But Netflix has gone ahead and grabbed those folks and added them to a cast that includes even more incredible actors for a film called “The Harder They Fall.” Has there ever been a must-must-must-must-see film before?

Netflix has now confirmed the cast for the upcoming feature “The Harder They Fall,” and let’s be honest, it’s probably the most stacked cast announcement of 2020. As mentioned, there’s King, Beetz, and Stanfield, but those actors are joined by Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, RJ Cyler, Jonathan Majors, and Idris Elba in the upcoming film. If you take a moment and listen really hard, you can hear the collective Film Twitter go absolutely batshit crazy for this announcement.
For those not aware, “The Harder They Fall” comes from writers Samuel and Boaz Yakin and is a Netflix Western about an outlaw that discovers his enemy is being released from prison. So he does what any good outlaw in the wild west does and gathers his crew for a revenge quest.
We could spend thousands of words trying to explain why each and every person is great, but let’s just hit the highlights, for the sake of brevity. We have Beetz, who has starred in recent films such as “Deadpool 2” and “Joker,” as well as “High Flying Bird.” There’s Stanfield, who regularly puts on a masterclass in “Atlanta” and has appeared in films such as “Sorry to Bother You,” “Knives Out,” and “Uncut Gems.” As for King, did you even watch “Watchmen?”
Continuing our ridiculously excited list, we have Delroy Lindo, who absolutely killed it in “Da 5 Bloods” and has more awesome performances than the rest of the cast combined over the decades. Idris Elba is…well, he’s Idris Fucking Elba. Enough said. And if you need proof that Jonathan Majors is the real deal, immediately watch “The Last Black Man in San Francisco.”
RJ Cyler is incredible in “Me & Earl & the Dying Girl,” and he actually was probably too good for the recent “Power Rangers” reboot. Then you have lesser-known folks like Deadwyler, who has appeared in “Watchmen,” “Atlanta,” and is set to star opposite Mackenzie Davis in the HBO series, “Station Eleven.” Last, and certainly not least, there’s Gathegi, a great actor with a number of awesome credits in films such as “X-Men: First Class” and the recent “The Last Thing He Wanted.” He’s also appeared in series such as “Justified” and this year’s underrated “Briarpatch.”
Can you tell we’re psyched for this film? “The Harder They Fall” is easily one of our most anticipated features. Let’s just hope it begins filming soon.
