Got a Tip?

Rami Malek Doesn’t Refute Speculation That His ‘Bond’ Bad Guy Is Actually A Classic Villain With A New Name

We are getting closer and closer to the release of the 25th James Bond film, “No Time To Die.” And as the days count down, we are beginning to learn more about the film. Recently, we heard the theme song. We’ve seen a few trailers. And we’ve begun to read some interviews. But through all that information, there is one major character that is still a mystery— Rami Malek’s Safin.

But in a new interview with Esquire, the actor does seem to shed some light on the villain by actually not answering anything about the character. And in doing so, he adds fuel to the fire that there’s something sneaky going on with the people behind “No Time To Die” and there’s perhaps a big twist involving the villain known only as Safin.

“I have to be extremely careful,” said the actor. “I can’t really talk about the character.”

**Some serious speculation follows. The information could be very wrong, but also very right. So, you’ve been warned.**

But even though Malek’s character, named Safin, is seen in the trailers for “No Time To Die” and has been discussed briefly in previous interviews, there are some eagle-eyed fans that think they’ve got it all figured out. And the thing that many have decided on is that the reason Safin is so mysterious is that he’s not really Safin at all. Instead, he’s classic Bond villain, Dr. No.

And the evidence does seem to circumstantially point to this being a possible plot twist. There’s the fact that the trailer doesn’t show Safin’s hands at all, perhaps hiding the fact that he has prosthetic hands like a certain doctor. There’s also the scarring, which isn’t mentioned in the trailers but could be due to radiation exposure, similar to the aforementioned villain. And the fact that the mask that Malek wears in the trailer is known as a “Noh” mask is interesting, as well. Oh and don’t forget, the film’s title, “No Time to Die.”

When prompted with this theory, Malek does little to deter the investigation. In fact, you could argue that he teases that there is definitely more to his villain than meets the eye.

“I heard that,” he replied. “Am I? I mean, isn’t that an exciting thing to consider all the way up to the release?”

Of course, we’ll have to wait until April 8 to find out the truth about Safin and whatever other surprises Daniel Craig & Co. have in store for fans in “No Time To Die.”
