Got a Tip?

‘Parasite,’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’ & ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Among 2020 Art Directors Guild Awards Winners

The Art Directors Guild handed out the 2020 ADG Awards on Saturday night and whether they had any real influence on the upcoming Oscars remains to be seen. The guild has three different film categories and this year’s winners were Barbara Ling for “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” (Period Film), Charles Wood for “Avengers: Endgame” (Fantasy Film) and Lee Ha-Jun for “Parasite” (Contemporary Film). That’s potentially good news for the former and the latter, two films that are actually nominated in Oscar’s Production Design category.

“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” had the tougher task beating potential frontrunner “1917” as well as “Jojo Rabbit.” None of the other nominees in “Parasite’s” category earned an Oscar nomination.

On the television side, “Russian Doll” earned a rare guild win after countless nominations in the half-hour category while “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” impressively took out hour-long competition from “The Crown,” “The Mandalorian” and “Game of Thrones.”
