You knew it was only a matter of time before Vin Diesel lands his own superhero film. The man absolutely loves the idea of leading a franchise, and just about every film he signs up for is with the hopes that sequels will get made. And yes, he’s part of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but his character, Groot, is hardly known for being voiced by Diesel. That’s where “Bloodshot” comes in.
As seen in the new trailer for “Bloodshot,” there’s no mistaking Vin Diesel is the star of this film. And not only that, he plays a superhero that would have been every kid’s first choice when trying to decide which one they’d play as on the playground. Based on the comics of the same name, “Bloodshot” stars Diesel as a former soldier that gets implanted with nanotechnology that gives him super strength, super speed, and invulnerability. Seriously, you can literally shoot him in the face and his body will instantly heal. It’s like Wolverine on steroids.
So, if you’re someone that desperately wants to lead a superhero franchise, “Bloodshot” is a fun one to take the lead in. So far, we’ve yet to see any real weakness in the character, other than hints that he can be controlled by the bad guys through some sort of technology, but overall, the film just allows Vin Diesel to look ripped, murder folks, and do it all while having a glowing chest like Iron Man. It’s a pretty sweet gig.
Sony’s “Bloodshot” arrives in theaters on March 13.
Here’s the synopsis:
Based on the bestselling comic book, Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force –stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.
