Got a Tip?

Contest: Celebrate ‘Halloween’ In January & Win A Copy Of The 2018 Horror Reboot On Blu-Ray

This time of year, we’re inundated with awards season discussions. But sometimes, we need to pause all this Oscar talk to remind folks of a 2018 hit that got great reviews and excited moviegoers but isn’t probably going to land any gold trophies next month – “Halloween.” Yes, October is long gone and we’re deep into the cold days of winter, but no matter when you watch David Gordon Green’s reboot-quel, you’re in for a treat.

And to celebrate the 2018 “Halloween” coming to Blu-ray (or other physical media of your choosing) today, we’re lucky enough to give copies of the film out to our faithful readers. For those that aren’t huge horror buffs and somehow missed the massive critical and box office success of the latest “Halloween,” the film serves as a clean slate sequel to the 1978 John Carpenter classic.

Didn’t watch those terrible sequels that have been released over the last 4 decades? Don’t worry! Green and co-writers Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley wiped those out of existence and decided to make a true sequel to Carpenter’s original film. Now, 40 years later, our hero Laurie Strode is a mess. She’s the only survivor after her friends were murdered on Halloween decades earlier and Strode is just a ball of anxiety and PTSD. WIth Michael Myers back on the hunt (long story), she has to confront her fear once and for all.

To win a copy, all you have to do is follow us on Facebook and Twitter, tweet: “I want to win the ‘Halloween’ Blu-ray from @ThePlaylist. #WinThePlaylistContest,” and include the URL of this story. Your final step: just email us your tweet to [email protected], with your full name and address, and tell us the name of your favorite ‘Halloween’ sequel (and no, the 2018 reboot doesn’t count. Dig deep, people!).

As mentioned, “Halloween” is available starting today on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD, and every other possible way you pay to watch movies at home.

Here’s the synopsis:

Forty years after the events of 1978’s Halloween, Laurie Strode (Curtis) now lives in a heavily guarded home on the edge of Haddonfield, where she’s spent decades preparing for Michael’s potential return. After being locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when a bus transfer goes terribly wrong, leading to chaos in the same town he preyed on decades earlier. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the deranged killer returns for her and her family –but this time, she’s ready for him.
