‘In A Relationship’: Emma Roberts Makes Her Partner Jealous In An Exclusive Clip From The New Film

The idea that a relationship is beginning to feel a bit old and tired is the type of fodder that has been used by films for decades. But in the new film “In a Relationship,” the trope is then juxtaposed with a new relationship that feels fresh and exciting, as the two stages of being romantically linked are explored by two separate couples.

In honor of the new film hitting theaters and On Demand this week, we are proud to present an exclusive clip from the upcoming romantic dramedy that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. In the clip, we see what is the beginning of the two love stories intersecting, as a young woman Hallie, played by Emma Roberts, attends a pool party with her boyfriend and her friend. While Hallie is off talking to another guy, her boyfriend, Owen, talks with their friend about wishing he was free.

“In a Relationship,” as the title suggests, tells the story of Owen and Hallie as they come to terms with losing the spark in their relationship and their two friends, who find themselves in an unexpected whirlwind romance.

“In a Relationship” comes from first-time writer-director Sam Boyd. Joining Roberts in the cast are Michael Angarano, Dree Hemingway, Patrick Gibson, and Jay Ellis.

“In a Relationship” hits select theaters and On Demand on November 9.

The exclusive clip is below:

Here’s the synopsis for the film, as well as the trailer:

Owen & Hallie spent the first half of their twenties together, and now they’re hitting a wall. Just as they decide to take a break, their friends Matt & Willa embark on an unexpected romance of their own. The two couples’ fates intertwine over the course of a single summer.
