You know, I tend to think of myself as a pretty big “Star Wars” fan. Now, I can’t claim to have read all the novels or anything, but in my lifetime, I have consumed quite a bit of “Star Wars” entertainment. But for the life of me, I have no clue who the hell Tam Posla is. However, the character seems to be the hidden link between ‘Rogue One’ and the upcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

Appearing in a very brief cameo in ‘Rogue One,’ Tam Posla is a well-designed bounty hunter that really served no purpose in that film but has gone on to have a bit of a life in the new (and pretty great) “Star Wars” comic books. And now, thanks to some incredibly detailed “Star Wars” fans, we know that we might get to see more of the masked character in ‘Solo.’
According to Screen Rant, Tam Posla can be seen in the background of the new ‘Solo’ trailer, when Han is playing Sabacc in the shady, dimly lit gambling den. Even if you pause the trailer at exactly the 58-second mark, you still have to look hard to see the bounty hunter in the background. Does this mean Posla is going to factor into ‘Solo’ in a meaningful way? Probably not. Most likely, this little cameo is just another way for Lucasfilm to acknowledge some links between the films and to show that the galaxy far, far away is still just a small world, after all.
If anything, you can now use this knowledge to impress your friends as you watch ‘Solo.’ “Hey, you see that bounty hunter with the cool mask in the background of the gambling scene? His name is Tam Posla and he’s a former lawman from the Milvayne Authority that investigated claims of kidnapping, forced servitude, and surgical alteration that has now become a bounty hunter,” you would say, to the astonishment of your friends and family. By the way, thanks to Wookieepedia for that knowledge, which believe it or not, is 100% accurate.
There’s sure to be more cameos and hidden Easter Eggs to be discussed ad nauseam when “Solo: A Star Wars Story” hits theaters May 25.
(If you want to see for yourself, pause at 58 seconds. He’s there in the background, promise. Below the trailer is a screenshot with Tam. He’s the guy with the four pouches on his shoulder directly past Han on the right side of the screen.)
