Thank God “Lovesick” changed its name from “Scrotal Recall,” and shout out to my good pals for pointing me in the right direction because I never would’ve given it a second look due to its original title. The low key, romantic comedy series is the best thing on Netflix you’re not watching, and a New Year’s Day binge (while you’re nursing that hangover) is the perfect time to catch up.
Starring Johnny Flynn, Antonia Thomas, and Daniel Ings (who you might recognize from the second season of “The Crown” as Philip’s best bud who wrote those awful letters home), the show revolves around Dylan, who starts season one contacting all his exes after testing positive for an STD. He’s a hopeless romantic who is eager to find companionship and fights an on again/of again attraction to his best friend, Evie. It’s charming, hilarious and moving stuff, and if you’re hung up on some heartbreak, it might just hit you right in the feelings.
“Lovesick” returns for its third season on January 1, 2018.
