Sometimes, survival in Hollywood means leaning how to adapt, and credit to M. Night Shyamalan as he’s done just that. While kicking of his career with movies like “The Sixth Sense,” “Unbreakable,” and “Signs,” the director hit some serious bumps in the road, that would’ve stopped many filmmakers in their tracks (seriously, “The Last Airbender” would’ve been a career killer for some). But Shyamalan pivoted, finding success on TV with “Wayward Pines,” and discovering a niche in the industry where he could make studio pictures: low budget horror. He scored a hit last year with “The Visit” in that vein, and how’s got another with a slightly more star-studded cast.
Starring James McAvoy and “The Witch” lead Anya Taylor-Joy, plot details for the movie have been kept strictly under wraps, though the actress told Fangoria earlier this year that it’s “not a horror film.” Well, the trailer has arrived and it looks like we’re going to find out what it’s all about.
“Split” opens on January 20, 2017.
For some reason Kevin continues his snide attitude towards this film. Maybe it is time for someone else from Playlist to cover it since he considers it so far beneath him.
Thank you for editing this article to remove the snarky comments. Much more professional and reflective of the trailer and people involved.
Reminds me of ‘Identity’, that early 2000s thriller with John Cusack and Ray Lliotta
