Got a Tip?

Shameik Moore To Voice Miles Morales In Animated Spider-Man Film

If you thought Sony‘s reboot plans for Spider-Man just involved their live-action movies with Marvel and the Venom universe of Spidey characters they’re building, you’re dead wrong. The studio is also swinging into the animated realm, with a film planned for next year, and they’re gearing up the voice cast.

Shameik Moore (“Dope,” “The Get Down“) has been tapped to voice Miles Morales in the still-untitled animated movie. The fan-fave Black Hispanic character is getting the long-awaited big-screen treatment, and it’ll be interesting to see the tone it takes: will it more straight-faced like the live-action movies, or irreverent like “The Lego Batman Movie“? A clue might be found in the involvement of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who brought the ‘Lego’ franchise to life, and script-write and executive-produce here.

Joining Moore in the film will be Liev Schreiber, who will be playing the as-yet-unidentified villain, though I’m sure fans will have plenty of suggestions. Bob Persichetti (“The Little Prince“) and Peter Ramsey (“Rise Of The Guardians“) will be directing the effort, with a December 21, 2018, release date already pegged on the calendar. So, to recap, there will be three separate Spidey universes: the one with Marvel, the Venom world, and now the animated franchise. A bit much? Not for Sony, it seems… [THR]
