Got a Tip?

Martin Lawrence Says Talk Of A ‘Bad Boys 3’ Film Is Legit

Do you long, deep in the recesses of your loins, for a third and (hopefully final) installment of “Bad Boys,” the ridiculously over-the-top bad-ass buddy cop films by Micheal Bay, starring Martin Lawrence and Will Smith?

Wish apparently granted. Martin Lawrence recently told MTV that rumors of a third film are no b.s. and that he, Smith and Bay are onboard and they’re just waiting for producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

“Any time you can get Big Willie [Smith] to come out and talk about doing a third installment of a hot movie like ‘Bad Boys,’ you have to take notice,” Lawrence explained. “I met with Michael Bay, and he said he’s onboard too — so it’s real.”

So, even though Lawrence says the probability is “real realistic,” it doesn’t sound like it’s happening anytime soon. A script needs to be written, schedules need to be ironed out etc., etc. Maybe after “Pirates 4,” “Transformers 3” and “Men In Black 3D” Bay, Bruckheimer and Smith can come to Jesus and figure out a schedule? As for Lawrence, they just have to tell him where and when to show up (a reader reminds us that Sony hired Peter Craig — who wrote Ben Affleck‘s “The Town” — to pen the screenplay last year).

So just to recap: “Bad Boys 3” is “real” and “real realistic.” For real. Incidentally, you know who’s a big fan of “Bad Boys II” and maybe this explains “Pineapple Express” and the upcoming “The Sitter”? David Gordon Green, no shit.

  1. I just watched the original Bad Boys on TV recently, and it actually wasn't as bad as I remembered. I like the feel and atmosphere in the film, and the chemistry between all three leads is electrifying and memorable. I think Bad Boys is the one Michael Bay film I actually enjoy.

Bad Boys 2 was horrendous. Bad Boys 3 will probably be just as bad.
