Got a Tip?

Joe Carnahan & Frank Grillo Team Up For ‘The Raid’ Remake

With the release date for “Bad Boys For Life” pushed back to November 9, 2018 it means that director Joe Carnahan has some time on his hands as he waits for Will Smith‘s schedule to clear up. And so, he’s decided to put another project on his plate, and it’s a big one.

The director and production company XYZ Films have announced today that Carnahan will helm the brewing remake of Gareth Evans‘ blistering action pic “The Raid,” replacing Patrick Hughes  (“The Expendables 3“). Frank Grillo, who has been attached to the project for a couple years now, remains on board, with Evans producing the movie that is being pitched as a reimagining. The plan is for Grillo to face a half dozen or so opponents, instead of the waves of baddies that Iko Uwais fought, with Carnahan promising a different approach to the action than Evans.

It’s certainly a high bar to clear, but it seems these guys have their own vision to make it work. More details are apparently coming soon, and I guess that means we’ll find out if this will be coming before or after the next ‘Bad Boys’ movie. Thoughts? Hit up our comments section. [Collider]
