“Stranger Things” was one of the biggest hits of the summer, and the next season became highly anticipated the moment it was announced. And as the Duffer Brothers gear up for Season 2, we have new details about some changes and additions to the cast.
THR reports that 2 of the 3 new characters previously reported have been cast, with Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery signing on to play siblings Max and Billy. Sink, already a seasoned Broadway and TV vet, has been seen in “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “The Americans,” and “American Odyssey,” among others. Her character Max is described as a 13-year-old tomboy with trust issues who doesn’t have the best relationship with her older brother, Billy. Montgomery, who we’ll soon see as the Red Ranger in the upcoming “Power Rangers“ film, will play 17-year-old Billy, a Camaro-driving, girlfriend-stealing, party-going bad boy.

No word yet on who will play Rowan, the third new character added for Season 2, but there are some updates on the cast members we already know and love, or hate-to-love as the case may be. Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) and Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) have been promoted from recurring roles to regulars.
We still don’t know a lot, but we can at least assume Will Byers will get more onscreen time than he did when he was stuck in The Upside Down last season, and I guess we can assume Nancy and Steve are still together and as dysfunctional as ever.
Either way, the Duffer Brothers clearly know what they’re doing, and Season 2 is sure to be the same scary, funny, ’80s-inspired show we all want. “Stranger Things” returns to Netflix next year, and as fans continue to unravel their own theories, Schnapp has addressed the chatter that Will Byers might be gay.
