Apparently it was right under our noses this whole time. “Captain America: Civil War” was actually a twisted love story between a man (Cap), his true love (Bucky), and his two spurned boyfriends (Iron Man and Falcon). Well, that’s to be believed if you watch Screen Junkies’ new Honest Trailer.
Honest Trailers is at its best when picking apart those movies that get ravaged by critics. However, not one to shy away from a challenge, they do tackle those movies that are generally well received by fans and critics alike. Sporting a very respectable 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, ‘Civil War’ is clearly not without its problems. From Black Widow’s odd reliance on “scissoring” bad guys to Marvel Studio’s obvious love of making their characters fight all the time, Honest Trailers doesn’t hold back.
Critics and fans did already notice the obvious similarities between ‘Civil War’ and the much-maligned “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” However, when you see them side-by-side, as presented in the Honest Trailer, it’s crazy just how many details the two films shared, down to the fascination with character’s mothers.
The almost 7 minute “trailer” is chock full of jokes that will change how you view “Captain America: Civil War,” or “Captain America 3: Avengers 2.5” if you prefer, when you inevitably watch it 500 times on Blu-ray just for that airport scene.
while I enjoy honest trailers a lot of the time, I find with the right amount of snark and the right take you can make any good movie look bad or over simplified. Their negativity just rubs me the wrong way sometimes. Seems like ppl enjoy seeing good things torn down too much.
