Got a Tip?

‘Star Trek’ Actor Anton Yelchin Dies In Accident

Twenty-seven-year-old actor Anton Yelchin, known for playing Pavel Chekov in the new “Star Trek” movies (including the upcoming “Star Trek Beyond“), has died in a freak accident, according to TMZ, who confirmed the death through his publicist.

Evidently, Yelchin was found pinned between a brick mailbox and his car. The actor had a steep incline on his driveway and law enforcement said the vehicle was still running and found in neutral gear. TMZ says, “Yelchin’s friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal,” and in the early morning his body was discovered in the accident.

Yelchin recently appeared in the indies “Green Room,” “The Driftless Area” and “Experimenter.” “Star Trek Beyond,” opens soon on July 22. More details when they arrive. Rest in peace.

  1. I met him once at one of those film events where everyone’s mobbed and trying not to have a panic attack. I was just a face in the crowd, but when I struck up a conversation with him he was totally open to talking about what he was working on, just making a positive connection. He was really, really talented. His performances in The Green Room, the SXSW-winning short Kiss Kiss Fingerbang, and Only Lovers Left Alive are as the real deal. He had so many more masterpieces in him. What a loss.
