There will be a lot of movies coming to cinemas this summer, but few will be as straight up weird as “Swiss Army Man.” Featuring boners, farts, and a corpse as a main character, directing duo Daniels have certainly conjured something distinct, but as the reaction at the Sundance Film Festival where it premiered revealed, it’s also quite divisive.
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Dano, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the movie follows a man on a deserted island who is ready to end his life, only to find his joie de vivre reinvigorated when he stumbles across a dead body. Here’s the official synopsis:
Hank (Paul Dano) is stranded on a deserted island, having given up all hope of ever making it home again. But one day everything changes when a corpse named Manny (Daniel Radcliffe) washes up on shore; the two become fast friends, and ultimately go on an epic adventure that will bring Hank back to the woman of his dreams.
“Swiss Army Man” opens in limited release on June 24th and wide on July 1st. Watch the new red band trailer above.
