The trouble with the whole system of the once-a-year blockbuster is that it rather dilutes the spirit of excitement that traditionally comes with these kinds of movies. The "Harry Potter" films started to feel like an annual outing rather than a true event, while the Marvel films increasingly risk feeling closer to TV episodes than anything else. Or look at "The Hunger Games."
We liked the first movie, and then really liked last year’s sequel, "Catching Fire," and yet we kind of keep forgetting that the third entry, "Mockingjay Pt. 1" is on the verge of release. Fortunately, a clip from the movie has just aired on Good Morning America (via Coming Soon) and made its way online to remind us all that the film’s on its way.
The clip sees Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) shocked by the revelation that her old pal/maybe-love Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) is still alive after the events at the end of "Catching Fire." There’s nothing earth-shattering here, but it is a reminder of how sturdily-made and acted these movies are, even if this one seems drabber than previous entries. The film, again directed by Francis Lawrence and featuring returning cast members alongside new arrivals like Julianne Moore and Natalie Dormer, lands in theaters on November 21st. Watch the clip, along with some new images, below.
Well, Mockingjay is projected to earn even more than Catching Fire opening weekend….so,you needed a reminder that the release is coming soon, but the rest of the movie watching public/fans are well aware.
