If you’re looking for good, deep belly laughs before the year is out, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket for "Top Five." The latest from Chris Rock — who writes, directs, and stars in the movie — is a genuine gutbuster (read our review), a sharp look at the world of celebrity, that also manages to be a romance. It’s a well-executed mix of laughter and heart, and today three clips from the film dip into both sides of the equation.
The movie tells the story of Andre Allen, a hugely successful comic actor whose career and life are at a crossroads. He’s taken a turn towards drama, abandoning the massive comic franchise that made him famous and rich, all while he’s about to get married to a reality show star. However, spending the day with a New York Times reporter for a profile piece puts the everything in perspective. In the first clip, you’ll get a small taste of a great flashback story following Andre’s wild stand up comedy trip to Houston early in his career, with Cedric The Entertainer‘s concert promoter providing a memorable time. Next is a reflective moment with Andre’s ex-wife, and then another scene with Andre’s fiancé.
