The more closely knit the town, the less it takes to rattle it. J.K. Rowling takes this idea and runs with it in her book for grown-ups, "The Casual Vacancy." And if you read it and wanted to see it come life (or didn’t have time for it, but were curious), a new miniseries adaptation is on the way, and first U.S. trailer has arrived.
Starring Rory Kinnear, Simon McBurney, and Michael Gambon, the show will take viewers to the English village of Pagford, where a death sets off a chain of events. Secrets and skeletons in the closet come out in the open, and everyone tries to stay ahead of the revelations before they happen. It looks like a blend of drama and black comedy, and director Johnny Campbell ("Shameless," "Doctor Who") seems to have gotten the mix right.
"The Casual Vacancy" hits HBO on April 29th and 30th. Watch below.
I enjoyed this enormously!
