"Why remake a classic?" It’s the question everyone is asking about the upcoming "Poltergeist" redo, and a query Reddit posed to director Gil Kenan himself in a recent AMA. "Well, it’s a really good question, and it’s one I had to answer for myself before entering this. I’ll give a few answers that will hopefully work together," he said.
So, he’s got some honorable intentions, but can he make it all sing? Well, a new trailer is here, hoping to make the hair stand up on end. This time around, Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie Dewitt are the parents of the little kid who gets too close to the TV and brings some otherworldly stuff into the home.
"Poltergeist" opens on May 22nd. Watch the new trailer and TV spot below.
Or maybe for beat Insidious 3 (which basically has the same plot and comes out June 5) to the punch.
So no mention of why the release date was moved up from July 24 to May 22? Maybe to move away from Mission Impossible? It was originally slated for a Feb release though. Let\’s answer these questions?
What a crappy poster. Seriously. Posters today suck.
looks surprisingly well-made, and with a great cast. Fact that Gil Kenon and Sam Raimi are behind it does make me confident its not just a platinum dunes style money grab, but a worthwhile homage.
Looks like it recreates everything from the original and makes it more (unnecessarily) graphic. They filmmakers clearly learned nothing from those that remade Carrie.
