Got a Tip?

Kristen Stewart Will Be Olivier Assayas’ ‘Personal Shopper’

Olivier Assayas, Kristen StewartSay what you will about Kristen Stewart, but she became the first American actress to win a César award for her performance in Olivier Assayas‘ "Clouds Of Sils Maria." Clearly, the collaboration was rewarding for both, and the two are reuniting on a new project.

Variety reports that Stewart will star in Assayas’ "Personal Shopper." While the title might sound a bit bland, the premise is anything but. The English language movie will be set in Paris and is a ghost story that takes place in the fashion underworld. With Nicolas Winding Refn making a horror taking place in the world of modeling, are we seeing a new trend of auteurs skewering haute couture?

Anyway, this is one is moving fast with cameras slated to roll this fall. So will we see "Personal Shopper" at Cannes in 2016? I’d bet on it.

  1. I am so happy that Stewart is plowing ahead with her career. Her ex Pattinson seems to have side lined himself to follow after his new hottie. What he sees in this girl is beyond me. To have trashed Kristen for her is just mind blowing. Kristen is a true professional and a very gifted actor. Nothing but the best for her.

  2. Why don\’t you go over to Buzzfeed and look at the comments regarding Stewart as a female version of Loki in the Avengers gender swap posters they did? No on can stand her as an actress. Those commenters are not Pattinson fans, they\’re movie-goers and they think she\’s wooden, unable to convey motion, unlikable, shallow, and that she\’s very limited as an actress, so far showing no range, just playing herself over and over. If you go to ANY other movie forum, the comments are all from the same over-investe fans of hers that police the comments section and praise her whether she deserves it or not. So that\’s not a good example. Try Buzzfeed where it\’s a true sampling of ticket buyers.

  3. You can go in ANY movie forum, places that people are usually not fan of either, most people if not everyone will say Kristen is definitely doing better. I guarantee you.

  4. Kristen is doing MUCH better than Robert, I am sorry if you are THAT much in denial. Just look at the RT score of her recent films, her next projects, most of them she has leading roles while he\’s playing mainly small supporting.

And if you are gonna list OTR where she only had a small role, then you can list Still Alice which was a hit (critically and financially). He had tons of flops, like Bel Ami, he also got terrible reviews for it.

  5. When faced with facts and figures, Stewart\’s fans resort to name calling and making claims they can\’t substantiate, and try to turn her into a victim. God forbid you be well informed and can back up what you say. Better to be hysterical and over-emotional. That\’s her fanbase. These comments speak for themselves. As long as her fans continue to make false claims, I\’m sure someone will supply the correct information.

  6. my god how old are you so yo stalk kristen so much nobody sane would pay that much attention on somebody they "don´t like" please do yourself a favor and seek help or admit you have a serious obsession with this actress

  7. On The Road cost over $20 million and made less than $800,000 domestic, so it was a way bigger flop than The Rover. Camp X Ray made less than $10,000 in theaters, so again, bigger flop than anything. Welcome to the Rileys and The Runaways were both huge flops. Stewart has a long history of making indies that don\’t even make their catering budget back. It\’s silly to say she\’s doing better than anyone. Let\’s compare her to actresses of her generation. Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Anna Kendrick, Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried, Hailee Steinfeld, Emily Blunt, Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska, they\’re all doing better than her. She\’s mostly taking small supporting roles in small films that don\’t make a profit. You can wave all the good reviews in the world, that doesn\’t mean she\’s doing well, just that she\’s well reviewed. Studio heads are looking at her box office numbers and they\’ve been dismal with the exception of the big studio fantasy franchise films. And she\’s not being cast in those any more.

  8. Honestly, it\’s silly to compare Robert\’s career with Kristen\’s, she\’s way ahead of him atm. It doesn\’t mean his career is in a bad shape, he\’s doing ok, but she\’s still doing much better. And Honestly, I don\’t care who he\’s dating, I am not on that delusional boat who thinks they have to be together forever, and I am ceirtanly against ANY type of racism (as well as homophobia btw). I am saying this because it\’s true, not because I hate him, much less his girlfriend who seems to be a nice girl.

  9. For a french movie standards, it\’s a success. They don\’t usually make their money back trough B.O, they do it later with DVD, Blu-Ray, Netflix and etc. For a french movie to make 1.3M with limited release in the U.S is great, and the movie isn\’t done yet, it\’s still going to make more money, it\’s Assayas highest grossing film in the U.S. That\’s why it\’s considered a moderate success, indiewire knows the business, they are saying it because it\’s true.

BTW, BO doesn\’t show it\’s total internaitonal B.O, for example, they are not showing Brazilian B.O\’s results.

  10. so that makes the rover a bigger flop right because with a bigger budget of 12 million it made even less than clouds in the states and probably worldwide sadly because the rover was a nice movie and clouds is amazing and beautiful so please stop trolling and grow up

  11. CoSM was released last August, and even worldwide, it hasn\’t made its budget back yet. It\’s a box office flop. There is no formulation by which it will make a profit. But it was bankrolled by Chanel, and this film is probably funded by them, too. They are getting slick 90 minute commercials that keep them happy, and they can use it as a tax write off. This is what indie filmmaking has come to. Sad, really.

  12. Clouds Of Sils Maria\’s budget:$6mln,domestic total:$1,295,421 mln.It\’s a flop anyone that says it is a moderate success is lying. Why does Indiewire lie?

  13. so that makes the rover a bigger flop right because with a bigger budget of 12 million it made even less than clouds in the states and probably worldwide sadly because the rover was a nice movie and clouds is amazing and beautiful so please stop trolling and grow up

  14. I am not a Twilight fan, I am Kristen fan but when a Pattiaon fan comes up trying to downplay hey, I\’all obviously put the facts straight, her career is doing great and that\’s all I care. I couldn\’t care less about her personal life os her ex\’s

  15. Twilight fan are always bad. It\’s also for comments like this that Pattinson, Stewart and the other actors are not considered seriously. Look at Stone, Lawrence, Woodley they all made franchise but their comments section isn\’t the mess that you find on Steart or Pattinson\’s article

  16. Between Elle\’s article begging people to like Kristen Stewart and Bustle\’s expose about her crazy fans who think she has a baby hidden away for the past year, this is going to keep her PR team scrambling for the next few weeks. How will they ever keep up with all her indie film stories?

  17. Whether Chanel is involved or not, it doesn\’t take away the fact that Kristen won a César and has received glowing reviews unanimously in respected newspapers and magazines for her role in Sils Maria. Neither does it explain that she has landed roles in future films of Ang Lee and Woody Allen.

  18. If you consider those next films "his", then Still Alice is her film as well (which was a hit), cause he\’s only playing small roles in his next films as well.

  19. So Pattinson is allowed to flop with his arthouses but Kristen isn\’t?
Not that Clouds of Sils Maria is a flop, indiewire consired as a "moderate success", people are showing up because they want to watch the film, not because of the type of distribution (which might help, of course, but that\’s not the "single reason). The Rover tried expanding as well, and it was called a "big flop" by movie sources.
Stewart\’s last mainstream effort was also a hit, much bigger than Water for Elephants btw. But I am sure you\’ll try to justify it as "it was because of Charlize and Chris" and "Witherspoon had nothing to do with Water\’s BO, it was all Robert". Sure, right.

  20. Truthy, YOU\’RE the one who is sitting in the comments section of an article about Kristen Stewart. YOU\’RE the one who posted the comment above as "MI." Likewise, Kristen Stewart "has chosen the art house route, to glowing critical acclaim." Four of her upcoming films are more mainstream (American Ultra, Equals, Billy Lynn\’s Long Halftime Walk, and the Untitled Woody Allen) and when they make money you will need to find some new fake complaint about her success. It\’s sad how bitter Pattinson\’s fans are about a woman who hasn\’t been seen near him in over two years. Always trying to make comparisons, lol.

  21. CoSM has yet to make its money back, much less show a profit. The only reason it\’s doing "better" is because of the way the distributor chose to platform it instead of opening wide. But it can only stay in theaters for so long and even then, it will not earn enough to show a profit. And saying that it\’s done "better" than the director\’s other films is not a great claim, since they were all flops. I guess some of you forgot that Pattinson\’s last mainstream effort also showed a profit, Water For Elephants. Since then he has chosen the art house route, to glowing critical acclaim. Two of his upcoming films are more mainstream and when they make money you will need to find some new fake complaint about his success. It\’s sad how bitter Stewart\’s fans are about a man who hasn\’t been seen near her in over two years. Always trying to make comparisons, lol.

  22. @SYNERGY, RIGHT

Guess you were trying to downplay it somehow, but I am sure myself and lots of people will love to see Channel clothes in the film, since their clothes are amazing. And know what, this is the film industry, it\’s more than common to get financing in exchange of exposing/promoting their products. If you don\’t like it, try TV, hey.. wait, they do it to LMAO.

  23. Last time I checked, Sils Maria was considered a "it has become a decent art house success", it\’s going to be the highest grosing Assayas film in U.S.

Also, it\’s not like Lautner and Pattinson are big B.O draw. Pattinson once was, long ago (Remember Me), but noawadays.. look at The Rover, it was considered a big flop.

Let\’s se how American Ultra goes, Lionsgate trusts her star power, she\’s getting first billed.

  24. So happy to hear Kristen will be in another Olivier\’s movies. Kristen seems to be racking up movies this year! Can\’t wait to see another award winning performance! Wonder what happened to the "ex"? Don\’t hear much about him working these days. Seems like he has lost the will to work anymore as an actor.

  25. And once again no word from Kevin about COSM box office flop.It seems kstew is the only Twilight actress who doesn\’t have to put butts into theater sits.

  26. Chanel bankrolled CoSM, and will anyone be surprised to learn they\’re the financing behind this same producer/director/actress combo? Stewart will again wear Chanel the way she did in CoSM, and carry their purses through the airports as part of her tit for tat deal. Let\’s see what kinds of clothes they\’re wearing in the Refn movie.

  27. I am not a Twilight fan, I am Kristen fan but when a Pattiaon fan comes up trying to downplay hey, I\’all obviously put the facts straight, her career is doing great and that\’s all I care. I couldn\’t care less about her personal life os her ex\’s

  28. I just love how haters bash Kristen Stewart day in and day out. It\’s like a drug to them, their own personal brand of heroin. If they don\’t bash her, they go crazy. It doesn\’t matter if they are Robert Pattinson fans or not. They are all the same. They reek of vindictiveness, arrogance, and shallowness. Let me ask you these questions. If she is so unlikable, then how come all of her co-stars have had nothing but positive things to say about her? If she is so untalented, then how come her acting career has lasted more than ten years? Don\’t dare say she has paid her co-stars to say nice things about her or that her parents are involved in keeping her career going. Those excuses don\’t fly anymore. The reality is you haters can\’t stand that her star is rising and showing no sign of stopping. You have no logic. You say she shouldn\’t be an A-List actress because she hasn\’t had a box office hit since Breaking Dawn Part 2. If that were true, then every A-List actress who hasn\’t had a box office hit in a long time should be stripped of their status. Kristen chooses to be in indie films because it showcases her talent. They are not box office hits due to limited releases. She isn\’t in acting for the fame. She is in it because she loves it. You might as well face it. You have failed in destroying her career. It will only continue to get better. There is nothing you can do about it.
