Got a Tip?

Arnold Schwarzenegger & Sylvester Stallone To Team Up For ‘The Tomb’?

nullSomewhere between “Get Carter” and “Shade” it seemed as though Sylvester Stallone’s career was over. Then, in 2006, he decided to revitalize the “Rocky” franchise and guess what? People loved it. A year later, he did the same with “Rambo.” Lightning doesn’t strike three times, right? It did for Stallone. He wisely left nothing to chance for the third go-around, and cast every B-movie action star for the mega action film “The Expendables.”

Well, it appears as though Stallone’s savvy mining of his old career has paid off: he is officially a movie star again. Stallone has a film coming out in April (“Bullet to the Head”), a big budget sequel (“The Expendables 2”) arriving in August and now, his soon to be shooting action picture “The Tomb” may have a new co-star: Arnold Schwarzenegger.

AICN reports that according to their souce, Sly's pal Arnold Schwarzenegger is circling the project and may play a significant, currently unknown character in the film. Last spring, Schwarzenegger himself was considering taking on the main role of Ray Breslin, now being played by Stallone.

Deadline backed up AICN's report, although they emphasize that nothing's gotten past the early discussions stage so far. The site also says that director Mikael Hafstrom ("1408," "The Rite") is in talks to direct the project, replacing originally-tapped helmer Antoine Fuqua.

Penned by Miles Chapman (”Road House 2”) with a rewrite by Jason Keller (”Machine Gun Preacher”), the story follows Ray Breslin, a security expert who designed an inescapable, high-tech prison only to be framed for a crime and locked up in it. Who will Schwarzenegger play? The man who put Breslin in jail? A friend of Breslin’s? Those are probably the only two options. Either way, action fans must be pretty excited to see the long-awaited pairing coming together again, after this summer's "The Expendables 2." Now, who do we have to talk to to get a "Grumpy Old Men" reboot going with Sly and Arnie?
