Sofia Coppola continues to align herself with burgeoning talent, and just a day after she nabbed Emma Watson for her next film "The Bling Ring" she's picked up a fresh face to join the cast.
"American Horror Story" star Taissa Farmiga (sister of Vera, whose directorial debut "Higher Ground" also featured the younger Farmiga) has come aboard the film. "The Bling Ring" will be based on the true story of The Burglar Bunch aka Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch aka The Bling Ring, a group of affluent teenagers who pulled off some brazen heists of celebrity homes, including those of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox and Orlando Bloom, taking up to $3 million worth of goods. No word yet on the exact roles for either Watson or Farmiga.
But before she gets to the Coppola film, Farmiga will appear in the indie flick "James Boy." Written and directed by Tim White, the story will follow a street gang member who ends up in prison, being mentored by a convicted murdered. Farmiga will play the young man's love interest.
And for those of you hoping Farmiga will be back for more 'Horror Story'? Not gonna happen. The show is pretty much re-casting and re-locating for season two. But it looks like the actress doesn't have worry about having work. [Variety]
Curious to know if Coppola will stick with a bunch of C-list nobodies (i.e. Hilton, Bloom, Fox, Lohan, etc.) as victims of the Bling Ring. Alert the masses Megan Fox's home has been vandalized! Yeah, not the most intriguing of stories. I think, and hope, Coppola will just use the actual story as inspiration and make it something of her own as she tends to do with most of her work. More Virgin Suicides territory perhaps.
It's Trevor White who wrote and directed 'Jamesy Boy'. I think Tim White co-wrote and is producing.
James boy sounds really cool. Not sure about Bling Ring yet. Needs more Ezra Miller.
Still bitter she won't be returning to AHS, she was one of the best things about it. However, absolutely delighted she's getting the notice she deserves and these roles sound really interesting. She's got the talent that's for sure.
Cannot wait to see more of this chick. She was outstanding in both Higher ground and Horror Story. Coppola is a big catch for such a new comer!
She's an amazing talent. This will be a coming of age for her. Sad she won't be back on AHS but she's going places, maybe even further than her big Sis.
