Got a Tip?

New Images From ‘The Expatriate’ Starring Aaron Eckhart & Olga Kurylenko; Radius Picks Up U.S. Rights

nullThe Weinsteins VOD/artier arthouse shingle Radius continues to rack up an impressive roster in their debut year. Sundance comedy hit "Bachelorette" and two Nicolas Winding Refn associated projects — the "Pusher" remake and the director's next film "Only God Forgives" — are now flying under the banner, and they're continuing on their buying spree, notching another movie under their belt.

The thriller "The Expatriate" starring Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko has now found a home, and it's a promising little movie. Based on a script by Arash Amel, with Philipp Stölzl directing, Eckhart plays a former agent who moves to Belgium, trying to make a fresh go of things as the relationship with his 15-year-old daughter (Liana Libreto) has crumbled. Working for a multinational corporation as a security head, he arrives to work one day to find that the corporation doesn’t actually exist and everyone he works with has vanished. He discovers his assistant is actually a trained operative trying to kill him. On the run with his daughter, the experience forces the two to trust and work with one another. Kurylenko will play his former CIA partner and lover trying to track him down.

Yes, it's described as a mix between 'Bourne' and "Taken" but we're hoping that the usually rock solid Eckhart elevates the material a bit and this isn't just a lazy riff on that genre. We've dug up some new images from the film of Eckhart doing his rugged thing and you can look at one more that dropped (rather prematurely) last summer over here. "The Expatriate" will get both a VOD and theatrical release, with a fall 2012 date being eyed. [Variety/Kinopoisk]nullnullnull
