While we'll have to wait until November to see the result of the battle between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, before then, another gritty campaign will be fought at the multiplex in the "The Campaign."
Starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, the Jay Roach directed comedy looks like a no brainer, pitting the two comic titans against each other playing rival North Carolina politicians battling for a seat in Congress. In advance of a full length trailer, Warner Bros. has hit Facebook first with separate pages for Ferrell's Cam Brady and Galifianakis' Marty Huggins, each with their own campaign videos. And overall, it's kind of underwhelming. Ferrell's Brady seems like a lukewarm riff on the comic actor's portrayal of George W. Bush while Galifiankis is basically reprising his Seth character and pouring him into a political mold. The laughs aren't quite as barbed as we might have hoped, but then again, these are phony campaign vids so hopefully in the actual film, things work a bit better.
Anyway, check it out for yourself below and cast your vote on August 10th. [via Collider]
Galifianakis looks too much like Nick Offerman with the 'stache. Unfortunately, Offerman probably would've given us a more interesting character than Galifianakis' man-boy schtick.
agree with huffy.
Whatever happened to intelligent, subtle satire that didn't hammer you over the head? A little early to judge it but this is looking pretty meh. Ferrell's character looks like a complete recycle of his SNL Bush persona.
