Got a Tip?

Set Pics Reveal First Look At Nicole Kidman As Grace Kelly In ‘Grace Of Monaco’

So, it would appear from these set pics that Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly looks a lot like Nicole Kidman. But if you're going to get someone to play the legendary actress and royal figure, Kidman is pretty damn good ace to have in the pocket.

Directed by Olivier Dahan of "La Vie En Rose" fame, the upcoming "Grace Of Monaco," is set in 1962, when the city-state of Monaco got into a heated dispute with France, which had grown tired of the small principality being a tax haven. Charles De Gaulle gave Kelly's husband Prince Rainer III (Tim Roth) six months to change his tax laws, and she maneuvered behind the scenes to save Monaco from a coup. It's going to be the tax evasion/cinema history movie you've been waiting for!

And while we're curious to see how this odd historical chapter turns (or doesn't) into a compelling film, it's hard to argue with the cast that includes Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Frank Langella and Milo Ventimiglia. Shooting is underway, and we'll keep an eye out for this one in 2013. Closer looks below plus an image of Kidman from a magazine shoot, apparently made to look like Kelly (she kinda just looks like herself). [JustJared/AlloCine]null

  1. Her job is to make us believe…if the content is intriguing and the director does his job this should be really good. Nicole is fully capable of doing her part and looks enough like Grace to draw us in. Am looking forward to seeing it.

  2. They don't look exactly alike, but they look similar enough. The performance is the important part, so as long as the actor doesn't look so dissimilar that it is distracting, we shouldn't be aiming to cast a lookalike. January Jones might look more like Grace Kelly and if Vanity Fair wants to do one of those photo shoots with her re-enacting a Grace Kelly movie, that's great, but I wouldn't want in a Grace Kelly film since she is quite a limited actress. Effective, but limited.
