Toldja! (Sorta). Last summer we dropped our list of 10 TV Stars Who Should Break Through To The Big Screen Soon and among them was "Parks & Recreation" and "Zero Dark Thirty" star Chris Pratt. And that's exactly what's happening as the actor has now bagged his first franchise.
Deadline reports that after a somewhat long and tedious search, Pratt has landed the lead role in "Guardians Of The Galaxy." He's taking the role of Peter Quill, an alien-of-sorts who crash lands on Earth and is raised by humans. He eventually works at NASA, gets sent to a space station, where he encounters Master Of The Sun, who names him the next Star-Lord. An insane number of people were linked to the part — Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne, Jim Sturgess, Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden, Sullivan Stapleton, Zachary Levi, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Rosenbaum — but it looks like Pratt won the day.
We haven't read the comics at all, so you tell us — is Pratt the right guy for the job? He'll next be seen on the big screen opposite Vince Vaughn in "The Delivery Man," while he's currently at the multiplex raiding Osama Bin Laden's compound. The James Gunn-directed movie arrives on August 1, 2014.
looks like Chris Fatt!
It looks like at least a couple of Marvel execs watched Everwood. First Emily Van Camp now Chris Pratt.
The modern take of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was pretty comical (and quite funny, indeed), and James Gunn is directing, so Platt is almost perfect.
Before Zero Dark Thirty I wouldn't have said Pratt was a good fit, but now I think he can be both silly and the master soldier that Star-Lord is. Great choice.
Looks like FBI Agent Bert Macklin got a promotion!
