Got a Tip?

Jon Favreau To Make A Cameo In ‘Welcome To People’

It looks like screenwriter Alex Kurtzman — best known for penning blockbusters like “Star Trek,” “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” and “Mission: Impossible III” — is getting a nice favor called in as he shoots his directorial debut, the drama “Welcome To People.” The film already boasts a strong cast including Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Pfeiffer and Mark Duplass and has now lined up a nice cameo. Jon Favreau — who is currently readying “Cowboys & Aliens,” a film Kurtzman co-wrote — hit Twitter yesterday to reveal he’s making an appearance in ‘Welcome’ saying, “Did a cameo role today in Welcome To People. Fun to act again, even if it was only for a day.”

Based on a script by Kurtzman, usual partner-in-crime Roberto Orci as well as Jody Lambert, the film follows the story of a twenty-something business man (Pine) who, after the death of his father, must deliver $150,000 in cash to the alcoholic sister (Banks) he didn’t know he had, and her son, a 12-year-old with major anger management issues. The man doesn’t want to part with the money but still reaches out to them without revealing who he really is. Wilde plays Pine’s girlfriend and Pfeiffer his mother, with Duplass set to portray a neighbor who takes a romantic interest in Banks’ character. No word yet on what Favreau’s appearance will entail.

Kurtzman’s script landed on the 2010 Black List and has been highly sought with Amy Adams and Hilary Swank circling roles in early days. “Welcome To People” is currently filming; no release date for the DreamWorks film has yet been set.
