Got a Tip?

Watch: Teaser For Haunted Little Boy Flick ‘Insidious’ Starring Rose Byrne & Patrick Wilson

From the makers of “Paranormal Activity” and “Saw” — yeah, not exactly the greatest selling points for a movie (at least for us) but at least the latest from director James Wan isn’t a shaky cam thriller or torture porn flick.

Starring Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson and Barbara Hershey, “Insidious” picked up very strong notices when it premiered in the Midnight Madness strand in Toronto. The plot surrounds a kid in a coma who is haunted by evil spirits and then shit, presumably, gets real freaky. The film will be released through Graham King‘s new Film District label on April 1st and while we can’t say we’re too excited by this, the teaser is an effective bit of marketing. Check out the film synopsis and spot below. [AICN]

A young family makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities, while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further.

  1. Yup, also saw this at Midnight Madness. I\’ll say upfront – I\’m not a James Wan fan but it ended up surprising the hell out of me. A little rough around the edges – shot in 22 days and it was finished only the day before we saw it, the dialogue and its delivery is a bit hit or miss, and it\’s got a camp B-movie vibe to it, but it is a blast and does the horror thing very very well, keeping up the tension for pretty much the duration. By far better than the Saw series (I only saw up to the godawful third one), this is worth a look. Also, blew away John Carpenter\’s latest (The Ward) which I wouldn\’t have expected.

  2. This movie received huge applause at Midnight Madness last year at the Toronto Film Festival. If you are a horror nut you will love this movie. James Wan is back!
