We expect some form of denial on this one to come along any moment from the powers that be at Warner Bros., but like anything Lindsay Lohan-related, this rumour is spreading around the internet like wildfire.
Gossip site TMZ has taken a break from following Charlie Sheen around and hanging outside restaurants, to report that Lindsay Lohan is up for a “major character” — though not Lois Lane — in Zack Snyder‘s “Superman” and she is set to meet with filmmakers soon. The site says “sources close to LiLo” are telling them this bit of intel which likely means it’s bullshit. Oh sure, we can buy that Dina Lohan and co are now trying to get their retirement fund/daughter into a major movie that she’s out of rehab (though she’s currently facing felony grand theft charges) but we’re pretty sure it will amount to nothing.
But really, why speculate on this? Do you think Warner Bros, Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder, who will already be under intense pressure to deliver for the franchise, are really going to want to deal with the baggage Lohan will bring to the equation? It’s sad really because Lohan was once a promising young actress who has been reduced to a late night television punchline thanks to the enablers around her. If she wants to come back legitimately in Hollywood, she’ll need to get a couple of solid indie performances under her belt because no one is going to take a chance with her on a franchise worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
So yeah, file this one away. If it happens, we’ll eat our hat.
