Last year was a big one for Conan O’Brien. After finally landing behind the desk as host of “The Tonight Show,” he decided to leave after a few short months when NBC asked him to to make way for former host Jay Leno. But the decision was not an easy one for the comedian as he basically had to say goodbye to the dream job he had spent over half his life chasing. In the months that followed, audiences saw a different side of the host, one that was darker and less eager to please than his former late night incarnation and his fans loved him for it.
Before landing his gig at TBS, he decided to go out on the road on the “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour,” because he was in fact contractually obligated to stay away from TV for several months. A documentary crew followed and captured a warts-and-all portrait of the comedian which got great reviews when it premiered at SXSW in March. Our man called it a “funny and moving portrait” and “a peak behind Conan’s psychological curtain.” We’ve got to say, we’re pretty excited for it (and not just because we may have been quoted). Check out the trailer below or watch it in HD at Apple.
“Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop” will hit theaters on June 24th.
