Got a Tip?

Jimmy Page’s Soundtrack For ‘Death Wish II’ Getting A Limited Vinyl Reissue

Full disclosure: this writer had no idea that Jimmy Page ever did the music for “Death Wish II.” And as a once teenage diehard fan of Led Zeppelin, we’re a bit disappointed that bit of trivia never stuck in our brain. But yes, the legendary axe man, for whatever reason, did decide to write and sing some tunes for the movie, and while they only featured very briefly (which may be why you don’t remember them) Page recorded full versions, creating his first soundtrack and soundtrack album. Well, in case you never got around to it the first time, you’ll have another shot to give it a listen. But you may need to bust out your grandma’s victrola.

Page has announced on his website that “Death Wish II” will be issued on vinyl in a limited run of 1,000 copies with fresh liner notes penned by the guitarist. Here’s what he had to say about it: “In 1981, Michael Winner asked me if I would compose the soundtrack to Death Wish II. The songs with vocals were only going to appear in the film for a matter of seconds but I had recorded full versions of them anyway – which is how I ended up doing my first soundtrack and soundtrack album. I’ve re-released this because I wanted it to be available again.”

But if you want to snag a copy, you’ll have to be one of the Page faithful. No price has been announced yet, and it will only be available on his webstore with a date to be announced on the site in the coming weeks. You snooze, you lose. Until then, here is the amazing, highly quotable trailer for “Death Wish II.” [via Gibson]
