Got a Tip?

First Look At Spike Lee’s ‘Red Hook Summer’ & ‘Man On Wire’ Director James Marsh’s ‘Shadow Dancers’

nullIf Spike Lee's first feature film in four years (alliteration! and not counting the many documentaries he's done in that time) isn't enough to get you excited for Sundance, then we just don't know what to tell you.

Lee will take "Red Hook Summer" to Park City, and no, it's not a sequel to "Do The Right Thing" as rumored. Instead, the mysterious project has been revealed to be centering around a young boy from Atlanta who heads to the titular neighborhood to spend the summer with his grandfather who he's never met. At some point, he will apparently run in to Lee's Mookie who is said to be making an appearance of some kind in a cameo role. Otherwise, this one is rounded by a batch of lesser known names including Clarke Peters, Jules Brown, Toni Lysaith, James Ransone and Thomas Jefferson Byrd.

Meanwhile, the endlessly busy "Man On Wire" director James Marsh — who spent the summer promoting his latest documentary "Project Nim" — is back with a feature film effort and something quite different in "Shadow Dancer." Based on the novel by Tom Bradby, the film will center on The Troubles in Ireland in the 1960s, and tell the story of a young woman — a former IRA terrorist turned informer for Blighty’s MI5 — whose brothers are both heavily involved with the IRA. When she is arrested over an aborted bombing attempt in London, she is forced to reveal her past if she wishes to see her children again. Clive Owen and Andrea Riseborough star, the latter looking ravishing in red below (alliteration!).null
