Got a Tip?

New Images Of Kirsten Dusnt & Jim Sturgess In ‘Upside Down’

nullIt was almost a year ago that we showed you the first images from the sci-fi romance “Upside Down,” a film we’re particularly interested in starring Kirsten Dunst and “One Day” actor Jim Sturgess, and a project which Dunst recently referred to as "kind of like an accessible 'Brazil.’” Now, some more images have surfaced of the bright and cheery Sturgess courtesy of the fansite Jim Sturgess Online.

From “Northeast” director Juan Solanas, “Upside Down” is the story of childhood crush that develops into a relationship of unrequited love for a couple literally living in separate universes. Sturgess plays Adam, whose love for his childhood companion Eve (Dunst) continues to flourish when he catches a glimpse of her on television all grown up. The only problem is that Eve lives in an inverted affluent place with its own gravity that’s separated from Adam.

While several of the new images look as if they belong pasted on the trapper keeper of a rabid Sturgess fan in junior high, it also gives us a clear look at some of the more intriguing aspects of the film, particularly the gravity-defying effects that Solanas has in place. In particular, there’s an image of Sturgess locking lips with Dunst, in a manner that may recall that fateful kiss in Sam Raimi’s first “Spiderman” film for some, but also gives us a glimpse of the unique world the film is set within.

We’re eager to at least see a trailer for this one, as Dunst’s post-web slinger career moves continue to yield interesting results, such as Lars Von Trier’s recent “Melancholia” and the upcoming Jack Keourac adaptation “On the Road” by “The Motorcyle Diaries” own Walter Salles. As for Sturgess, who’s given solid performances in the underrated horror film “Heartless” and director Peter Weir’s “The Way Back,” he should aide Dunst in creating a whimsical sci-fi romance with “Upside Down” just before his turn in the upcoming Tom Tykwer/Wachowski collaboration “Cloud Atlas.” A film which is certainly set to be a sci-fi epic of sorts in its own right.

No exact release date yet, but here's hoping we see “Upside Down” in 2012.nullnull
