This is either gonna be terrible, or awesomely terrible (and we're really hoping for the latter), but no matter how you slice it, the Luc Besson-produced "Lock-Out" (or as it seems to be called overseas "MS One: Maximum Security") looks plain ridiculous. But luckily, Guy Pearce is there to help chew the scenery.
Penned by Besson and co-directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, the film stars Pearce as a wrongly accused convict who must clear his name by undergoing a suicide mission to rescue the President's daughter (Maggie Grace). Oh, she just happens to be trapped in a futuristic space prison that is currently in the midst of a riot. This thing looks totally fucking bonkers in the best way possible, with Pearce seemingly trying to take the crown from Bruce Willis for action movie one-liners. And each one is eye-rolling/genius gold. It's kind of great to see him take the dumb action hero lead and run with it full throttle. That said, the action and sci-fi elements look pretty bland and while Pearce will surely entertain, if the rest of the movie has nothing to hang on to, it could become tedious pretty fast.
"Lock-Out" opens early overseas in France on February 22, 2012 before hitting stateside on April 20, 2012. Yeah, we're kind of looking forward to this even if its a total ripoff of the John Carpenter "Escape From…" movies. [via /Film]
Reminds me of fifth element 🙂
I'm pretty sure he's doing Johnny Depp doing Hunter Thompson. Kinda works though doesn't it.
