Now that we've all had a chance to recover from the excitement of either a) some of the awesome Super Bowl spots or b) a pretty thrilling Super Bowl (depending on your relative levels of interest) it's time to check out something a little more sedate — still images.
First up is an image from "G.I Joe: Retaliation", which features The Rock, Bruce Willis and Adrianne Palicki standing around a table looking at some maps at stuff. If the image serves to highlight anything it's that Bruce should not stand next to The Rock if he wants to still be considered an action star. Seriously, how old and puny does he look next to the man-machine that is The Rock? And for this writer at least, after his unmitigated awesomeness in "Fast Five," The Rock is now the main draw in any action sequel. Anyway, we'll see what that meeting is all about on June 29th.
"The Avengers" may have a Hulk, but one of the other most anticipated films of the year has something even more formidable — Ridley Scott directing sci-fi. We're massively excited for "Prometheus," but even so we couldn't muster up much excitement for this image. It's another shot of the characters wearing those funky suits that make it look like their necks aren't properly attached — the characters in question this time around are Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and her love interest played by Logan Marshall-Green. They'll go to outer space on June 8th.
Finally, the official site for "The Amazing Spider-Man" has been updated and as a result we've got a host of new images to look at. There's wallpapers of Spidey (looking focused), Gwen Stacey (looking extremely attractive) and there are also shots of Uncle Ben and Aunt May, and Peter's parents. Still no image of Rhys Ifans as The Lizard — we imagine they're saving that money-shot of the next trailer. Spidey spins his web on July 3rd. [SuperHeroHype/Horror Movies/SuperHeroHype]
The reason I read IndieWire is to avoid headlines like "New Images From 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,"
