Got a Tip?

Michael Fassbender Confirmed For Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor,’ May 1st Production Start Lined Up

Michael FassbenderWell, we recently weighed out the odds of what Ridley Scott would be directing next out of the many, many, many things he's attached to and this one came out on top. And we couldn't be more excited as "The Counselor" seems to be moving full steam ahead to start shooting this spring and it has locked down the leading man.

Deadline reports that Michael Fassbenderfirst rumored just over a week ago — is to take the lead in the film, and it's moving fast. Penned by Cormac "I Hate Semi-Colons And Exclamation Points" McCarthy, the script is an amped up "No Country For Old Men"-esque tale that follows a lawyer who naively gets involved in the drug trade and finds himself caught up in a desperate situation. But it's not all gonna be testosterone telling the story, as there are two female leads that are reportedly integral to the movie.

May 1st is now pegged as the start date for the project with apparently a bevy of "high-profile actors" all seeking roles in the movie. Frankly, this is the most exciting project Scott has undergone in years (and yes, that includes "Prometheus") so we're stoked it's actually happening (and soon), and of course, we couldn't be happier Fassbender is going to lead the charge.

  1. I've read a script review. The film sounds great but it also seems to be a lot like Breaking Bad.
"Regular folks think that they can make money with drugs, cartel finds out and doesn't like it, sh*t hits the fan…

  2. I think most projects that Ridley Scott has directed over the last decade seemed exciting at the preliminary stage (apart from A Good Year), even more so than this project, it's just the end product that was severely disappointing.
