Got a Tip?

Lonely Island Member & ‘MacGruber’ Director Jorma Taccone To Helm Comic Adaptation ‘The Great Unknown’

nullIt seems the only member of the Lonely Island yet to make a feature directing debut is Andy Samberg. But he may be so busy in front of camera, he may not want to get behind it just yet. Until he does, his two bros are doing just fine on their with Akiva Schaffer behind the crew's "Hot Rod" and this summer's "Neighborhood Watch," and Jorma Taccone lending his skills to the bonkers "MacGruber." And now the latter is putting another movie notch in his belt.

THR reports that Taccone will take the helm of "The Great Unknown," an adaptation of the Image Comic by Duncan Rouleau. The story focuses on a slacker with "delusions of grandeur" who claims that all of his great ideas are being ripped off. Failing to convince his family and friends, our hero sets out to find the culprit who is invading his mind "Inception"-style. It's certainly a bit of new territory for Taccone, though the material does seem to still contain some of the aburdist humor he and his Lonely Island cohorts are known for.

The project is just getting rolling with Michael Starrbury (the actioner "Fully Automatic" that has Justin Timberlake attached) set to pen the script, so we'll see how this New Line project develops.
