Got a Tip?

‘Bullet To The Head’ Reloads On Feb 1. 2013; ‘Gambit’ Moves Up While ‘7500’ Flight Delayed Until Next Year

nullIt's a good ol' release date swap meet! A few titles have switched around their dates, so get out your day planner and make the following changes accordingly….

First up, after being taken off the 2012 calendar by Warner Bros. who probably felt one old man action movie was enough per year, Sylvester Stallone's "Bullet To The Head" will now drop on Februray 1, 2013 which sounds about right for this kind of genre movie. There were some behind the scenes battles on this one with Stallone apparently planning to recut Walter Hill's film, so we'll see how that plays out. Anyway, in case you forgot, the film centers on a New Orleans hitman (Sly) and a Gotham cop (Sung Kang), who team up to take down the men responsible for their partners’ murders, with the conspiracy leading all the way to Washington, D.C. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christian Slater, Holt McCallany and Sarah Shahi co-star. "Bullet To The Head" will take aim at the zombie romance "Warm Bodies" that weekend.

Next, it looks like CBS Films is smelling Oscar or awards season play as they've moved up the Coen-penned "Gambit" starring Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz from a dreaded early January date to October 12th. This likely means a fall festival premiere for the movie (we're guessing TIFF) and perhaps the performances could garner some awards season attention. The comic caper follows a thief (Firth) who plans to steal a statue from one of the wealthiest men in the world and enlists the help of a woman (Diaz) who is a dead ringer for the man's late wife to help him with job. The movie opens on a busy weekend with Ben Affleck's "Argo" and Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" also dropping. But it seems the studio is feeling pretty confident.

Finally, the already pretty fucking awful looking airpline horror movie thingy "7500" from "The Grudge" director Takashi Shimuzu has been removed from its August 31st date and pushed to an undetermined 2013 date. No surprise really given the low wattage cast featuring that guy from "True Blood" and a bunch of other people. When it gets rescheduled, we'll let you know, in case you really care. [BoxOfficeMojo]
