New Posters For ‘Gangster Squad,’ ‘The Last Stand,’ ‘After Earth’ & ‘The Campaign’

Set your eyeballs on fun, because a plethora of one sheets have landed in the last few days, so we're just gonna round 'em up here for your perusal.

First up, a new banner poster for "Gangster Squad" has been unveiled, giving the key characters in the film — coppers played by Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling; Emma Stone's femme fatale and Sean Penn's blustering Mickey Cohen — all a little bit of shine. You know the story by now: based on a series of articles in the L.A. Times by Paul Lieberman, and adapted by former L.A. cop-turned-novelist Will Beall, the film tells the story of an L.A.P.D. unit set up in the ‘40s to fight the growing influence of the East Coast Mafia under the leadship of Mickey Cohen, a mogul who started as muscle for Al Capone in Chicago.

Co-starring Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie and more, "Gangster Squad" opens on September 7th. [Yahoo]

Next up, even though Comic-Con is now in the rearview, it seems we're still getting material from San Diego as a rather cartoony and kind of ridiculous poster for Arnold Schwarzenegger's "The Last Stand" has arrived. So why do we care?

For starters, "I Saw The Devil" and "The Good The Bad The Weird" director Kim Jee-woon is at the helm, and secondly, the premise is promisingly low key and gritty. The story follows a disgraced L.A.P.D. cop (Arnie) in a new job in a small town, who is trying to stop a drug cartel leader, Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), who has just busted out of prison and is trying to make it across the border with $400 million. Zach Gilford and Rodrigo Santoro are the team of cops on the small town force working with Ahnuld, and together they will team up against Peter Stormare who works for Cortez. Genesis Rodriguez will play an FBI agent with Johnny Knoxville, Forest Whitaker and the always awesome Harry Dean Stanton rounding out the cast. We'll see the results on January 18, 2013. Well, the "After Earth" presentation at Comic-Con was easily one of the lowlights of the shindig in San Diego, with director M. Night Shyamalan and stars Will and Jaden Smith not bothering to show up (though M. Night did pop in via pre-recorded video — hooray). But regardless, the promotional campaign rolls on.

After fairly tepid viral video an equally shrug-worthy poster has landed with Jaden off in the distance overlooking some lush greenery, with some kind of panel or sci-fi whatzits is up in the foreground on a rock. The film is set 1,000 years after cataclysmic events force humanity’s escape from Earth to Nova Prime. Legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash land on a now-unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon, giving him a chance to be a soldier like his father. Finally, Warner Bros.' campaign for "The Campaign" continues with their ongoing series of dual posters of the candidates played by Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.

The film follows long-term congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) who commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, and a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors' support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family's political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.

We'll see if this movie is as funny as Mitt Romney's retroactive retirement on August 10th. [ComingSoon]
