Robin Wright is in negotations to replace Rachel McAdams in Anton Corbijn's adaptation of John le Carré's novel "A Most Wanted Man." Quickly becoming one of our most anticipated projects of 2013 — Corbijn's "The American" being one of the vastly underrated pictures of 2010 — this political thriller centers on a Chechian Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg and then gets caught up in the international war on terror.
Already on deck to star is Philip Seymour Hoffman (with "Inglourious Basterds" actor Daniel Brühl among those rumored to join down the line) in the film that is loosely based on the story of Turkish-German Guantanamo detainee Murat Kurnaz and follows a half-Chechen, half-Russian man who illegally immigrates to Hamburg and spins a web of intrigue that manages to involve a young British banker and a female lawyer.
Le Carre’s “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” was a hotly anticipated film in 2011 and several of his properties have been optioned of late including "The Night Manager" (which Brad Pitt's Plan B is developing) and "Our Kind of Traitor" (which "The Snowtown Murders" director Justin Kurzel is attempting to get off the ground). Wright's career has been somewhat sleepy in the past decade, but starting with the sorely underseen and undervalued "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" in 2009 (in which Wright put in a stellar performance), she's been taking on interesting work including roles in "Moneyball," "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and Oren Moverman's "Rampart." Slot this one on your calendar now as one to watch next year. [Variety]
Rachel's a good actress. Anyone who doesn't think so after seeing Mean Girls and The Lucky Ones is a certified retard. Haters gonna hate.
AS, you are to fact what Wallace Shawn in Princess Bride is to "inconceivable." You wouldn't know good acting if it bit you in the ass.
Could be Kevin. But the truth of the matter is that the young age of this German lawyer (supposedly the McAdams character) plays an important part in her actions and motivations. At least that's what I felt when reading the book.
Rachel McAdams isn't getting replaced. Not according to a rep from InkFactory.

Hey guys, when asked directly on Twitter if Robin Wright is replacing McAdams, Justin Kroll said "yes." They could've quite easily aged up the character.
Yes, I think this is wrong considering Amy Adams, Carey Mulligan and Jessica Chastain were considered to play the lead female role of Annabel Richter, before Rachel McAdams was in.
Anyway, I hope Robin Wright gets a great role. She's fantastic
JV is right. No offense to Robin, but she's too old to replace McAdams. Justin Kroll's article in Variety says nothing about Wright replacing. But I guess we shall see.
McAdams is a bad actress, plain and simple, so it's always nice to see her replaced.
I think it's impossible that Robin replaces Rachel in the leading role. I mean, Robin Wright is an excellent actress. I prefer her over McAdams. But leading role is a young lawyer.
I guess Robin is cast in a supporting role
Justin Kroll (the guy who broke the story) said on twitter that Wright replaced McAdams
