So, welcome to the future of television. David Fincher's upcoming "House Of Cards" isn't coming to you on some national network or cable channel, but instead through Netflix, the rental and streaming service that is now headed into original programming. it's only natural that members get a sneak peek first, and the first trailer for the series has dropped over on Netflix Instant.
Based on the BBC TV political thriller, the Washington D.C.-set drama stars Kevin Spacey as Francis Underwood, the Machiavellian chief whip of the House of Representatives on a ruthless quest for power. Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Michael Kelly ("Chronicle"), Kristen Connolly ("Cabin In The Woods"), Corey Stoll ("Midnight In Paris') and Mahershali Ali ("The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button") all co-star in the series penned by "The Ides Of March" co-writer Beau Willimon. Fincher directed the first two episodes, and executive produced the series alongside Spacey, with James Foley ("Glengarry Glen Ross"), Carl Franklin ("Devil In A Blue Dress") and Joel Schumacher ("Batman And Robin") among the other helmers involved.
The Media Rights Capital-produced show comes to Netflix starting on February 1st. Watch below.
A ruthless Congressman, Francis Underwood, and his ambitious wife Claire, will stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama slithers through the back halls of greed, sex, love and corruption in modern D.C.
Looks brilliant. I love the whole genre of "politics intertwined with buisness, journalism, finance, & news" it is rarely done on the big screen in a insightful level. B/c i feel like it is a difficult genre to write & film to be exciting. More works should be dedicated to this. Spacey = 1 of the greatest actors alive, terribly underused & undervalued. Dont have Netflix either :/ ….(right now)
I don't know what it is, but I can't get into Kevin Spacey anymore. At all. Him and his southern accent are what ruins this for me 🙁
Netflix made the trailer exclusive to Netflix subscribers so that you would waste your free trial on the trailer, and then have to buy Netflix for the tv series when it comes out.
i don't yet have netflix, but isn't the whole idea of a trailer to attract new viewers,so why can't we nonsubscribers see it.sure, i'm a huge kevin spacey fan,so i'll undoubtedly get netflix by the time the show starts, but they should be trying to sign people up who would ordinarily not watch.
Can anyone tell me the contents of the trailer particularly if it shows Kate Mara? My region don't receive Netflix.
"Netflix is not available in your country". So ? Let me watch the bloody trailer damnit ! Who said once : "People who don't live in America will not be able to watch SNL and vids from Netflix or AMC" ?
I don't have Netflix sooo…..
Boo, it\’s down already.
(batman & robin)
Fincher ran in front of me at a crosswalk on Western & Franklin yesterday morning with a script in his hand. First time I've wanted to obnoxiously roll down my window and yell to a complete stranger in my life. I was totally starstruck
