Oh yeah, right. This movie. We sort of keep forgetting it's happening, but after a recent title change, "Jack The Giant Slayer" is now getting ready to debut this spring after being bumped off its originally planned date this summer. So, is 'Slayer' ready to rumble?
Kind of. As you probably figured it out, the Bryan Singer-directed movie is a tentpole take on the fairy tale led by Nicholas Hoult, with the film marking two major movies he's toplining in 2013 (the other being "Warm Bodies"; he's also in "Mad Max: Fury Road" but no word yet on when that will drop). And while he looks at ease in the zom-rom-com, here he's a bit less magnetic. It's a standard princess rescue story, more or less, but Singer and co. have put quite the emphasis on spectacle with this one, that yes, will be coming to you in 3D. However, the supporting cast—Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Warwick Davis, Bill Nighy, and Ian McShane—do at least have the potential to add some needed flavor to the CGI fest.
"Jack The Giant Slayer" climbs the beanstalk on March 1, 2013. Watch below.
This was pushed back an entire year, because it sucks, face it.
Singer will reunite with Hoult in the new X-Men movie too.
I hope this movie is only OK so you can use the heading "Fee-Fi-Ho-Hum" in your review.
