Got a Tip?

Seth MacFarlane Says ‘Family Guy’ Movie Is On The Way, Has A Slight Criticism Of ‘The Simpsons Movie’

nullDamn, we must have lost count somewhere along the way, but "Family Guy" is now going eleven seasons strong. And while the exploits of Peter Griffin and co. are not quite as fresh, funny or interesting as they used to be, like "The Simpsons," it's a cash printing machine for Fox thanks to syndication, which likely means it's going to be around, a long, long time. And yes, it's eventually going to be coming to a multiplex near you.

Recently chatting with some students at UCLA (via EW) the show's creator and this year's Oscar host, Seth MacFarlane, when asked if a movie was on the way he was confident. “It’s just a matter of when,” he said. And you can bet that after seeing "Ted" take over $500 million worldwide for Universal, Fox wants in on a piece of that cake too. MacFarlane said that trying to make a movie while the show is still on the air is a bit of logistical challenge, but he does already have a concept cooking, one that he hopes will see the show pushing things — something he thinks his pals over at "The Simpsons" failed to do.

“We do know what the 'Family Guy' movie will be," he confirmed. " 'The Simpsons' movie, I thought, was hilarious, but the one criticism I would have is that it’s a story they probably could’ve done on TV. There could’ve been an episode that had that plotline. That’s the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on the answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV.”

Considering how far "Family Guy" already pushes the boundaries of good taste, and see as how they've already tackled long narratives with the "Star Wars" spoof "Blue Harvest." Nudity? Swearing? Guess we'll have to see. But this is the same guy who dreamed up a comedy about an ill-mannered talking teddy bear and turned it into a massive hit. So…we'll see. Would you pay $12 for a "Family Guy" movie? Let us know below.

  1. If they make a Family Guy movie that's super nasty, filthy and vile then I'm in. Do it hard R. Actually I'd love for it to be NC-17 and "legitimize" the rating for mainstream audiences, but that's never going to happen.
