Last night, Park Chan-wook's highly anticipated English-language debut "Stoker" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and reaction was mixed to say the least. While the film earned praise, some didn't take to the Hitchcockian thriller, and certainly our man on the ground in Park City didn't like it. At all.
Calling it "a brutally empty, deeply unfortunate movie" that also "wins the early unintentionally funny masturbation scene of 2013," our critic isn't the only one to be dismayed, with Jeff Wells adding: "It's the biggest 'look at how I can out-DePalma at his most operatic!' show-off movie I've seen in a long, long time." Well, you'll soon get to lay down your own verdict on the film when it arrives in a couple of months, but here's a new trailer in the meantime. It's mostly stuff we've seen before, with some new snatches of footage, all set to DJ Shadow's "I Gotta Rokk."
Are you still looking forward to this one? Let us know below. "Stoker" opens on March 1st. [Empire]
