6 New Character Posters For ‘The Great Gatsby’ Get Close-Up & Intimate

nullWarner Bros. has released six new “The Great Gatsby” character posters. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the posters’ Art Deco-style gilded trim evokes the glitz of the flapper era and the pizzazz we’ve all come to expect from the director of “Romeo + Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge.” As you can see below, each poster shows a literal close-up of the character along with a figurative close-up in the backdrop (Gatsby and the green light, Myrtle and the yellow car, etc). The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker.

Under Luhrmann’s direction, be ready for an emotional rollercoaster with fantastic visual effects and a stellar soundtrack. For fans of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, the combination of the close-ups and allusion imagery in these posters packs a mean punch emotionally, as though seeing Gatsby throw his Turnbull & Asser shirts at Daisy in the trailer wasn’t enough to pique our interest. For those who don’t quite remember their Gatsby from high school or haven’t read it, here’s a helpful guide before the film opens this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is released wide on May 10th. Check out the other character posters for Nick Carraway and Jordan Baker and Myrtle Wilson and Tom Buchanan. [Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide]nullnullnullnullnullnull
