For the most part, these were some dark, dark Oscars shorts. Out of all of them, “Marguerite” is the most moving which should give it the edge. “Fauvre” is the most cinematic, “Madre” has the best performance and the twisty “Skin” is the only American entry. “Detainment” feels a bit too familiar.
