We’ve been calling Rami Malek in this category since November. Actors adore his performance (and the industry knows he basically saved “Bohemian Rhapsody” from falling off the rails). The SAG and BAFTA wins sealed it. Christian Bale has a shot, as does Bradley Cooper, but this should be Malek’s moment. [Updated Feb. 12]
Predictions
1. Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
2. Christian Bale, “Vice”
3. Bradley Cooper, “A Star Is Born”
4. Willem Dafoe, “At Eternity’s Gate”
5. Viggo Mortensen, “Green Book”

shouldn’t overlook Mads Mikkelsen in Arctic!!
Maybe, but it’s an insanely competitive category.
So, why isn’t Hugh Jackman the frontrunner then? Hehehe.
becuase jason reitman hasn’t made a great movie in a decade
Joaquin will surely be nominated for one, and Hawke is gaining some incredible reviews – but Gosling, Bale and malek i think are locks. Oscar lovessss a biopic
There is reason why both joaquin and hawke’s movies came in the starting of the year…because either the movies werent that great or the studios behind the movies decided not to spend money on oscar campaign…given how these movies did at box office..no studio will spend 3 or 4 million to campaign for the movie
I think the major dark horse is bradley cooper..he has 2 things going for him…he acted, sang and directed in the movie by taking 3 yrs of his career…that’s a lot of investment…..and he seems to be well connected. I mean the guy was in hangover and he is still nominated 3 times for acting…the same academy decided not to give single nomination for jim carrey or ben stiller or sandler..gave 3 nominations for this guy..so they consider them worthy…not sure who he is sleeping with but he sure is pretty influential.
